Understanding Phone Warranty Coverage

Most people don't know what their phone warranty covers until they need it — and then they find out the hard way. Here's a clear breakdown of manufacturer warranties, AppleCare+, and repair shop warranties.

Apple Limited Warranty (standard, 1 year)

AppleCare+ (adds accidental damage coverage)

Samsung Limited Warranty (1 year)

Samsung's standard warranty mirrors Apple's — manufacturing defects only, no accidental damage. Samsung Care+ adds accidental protection with lower deductibles than AppleCare+ for screen damage on current Galaxy models.

What repair shop warranties cover

Our 90-day warranty on repairs covers:

• The replaced part itself — if a screen develops dead pixels or color shift from a manufacturing defect after our repair, we replace it
• Labor — if a component comes loose due to installation error, we fix it

Our warranty does NOT cover:

• New damage from a subsequent drop — if the phone gets dropped again and the screen breaks, that's a new incident
• Water damage after a repair — our repairs restore hardware, not water resistance ratings
• Issues unrelated to the repaired component — if you came in for a screen and your charging port fails 30 days later, those are unrelated

Does local repair affect manufacturer warranty?

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your entire warranty simply because a third party serviced the device. They can only deny coverage on a specific component if they prove the third-party repair caused that specific failure. In practice: a battery replacement at Curbside Phone Tech doesn't void your manufacturer warranty on the screen, camera, or any other component we didn't touch.
