The logic board (motherboard) is the brain of the phone — it contains the CPU, storage, baseband chip (cellular), and every other core processor. All other components plug into it. When the logic board fails, the phone may not power on, may function erratically, or specific features (cellular, WiFi, audio) may stop working entirely.
Logic board repair requires specialized micro-soldering equipment and skills. It's done by specialists, not general repair shops. Cost ranges widely:
